scene setup — automate your thread openings
Scene features allow you to control quick commands for initiating and closing RP scenes using Stagehand.
In order to utilize any of the scene features, you should set up some configuration beforehand, though all of this is optional.
- Add Preset - by default, when users use /scene open, it will prompt users for a time of day. This is a generic term used for the initial message that is sent in a post or thread. This often gets referred to as a “scene header” or something similar and is what appears in the preview on a post and is the first message in a thread. Adding presets here will give a list of options for your users, if you have a finite set of options you’d like available. It also allows you to add an image that is applied when a particular default time of day is used, which will become the thumbnail of a forum post or simply included in the initial message of a thread.
- Remove Preset - removes the time presets.
- View Presets - see the time presets you’ve configured.
- Intro Text - set the default text to be applied to every scene header just under time of day when using /scene open.
- Ping Role - enter the role ID to get pinged every time a scene is created using /scene open. To obtain the role ID, right click the role in someone’s profile and select copy role ID. Delete the value and click Submit to clear it.
- World date - allows you to set a default for all scenes that will be used when using the /scene open command. Whatever text you put here will be appended to all scene names (unless a user enters in something custom to the World Date value when using /scene open) via the format “Scene Title (Muse 1 x Muse 2 x Muse 3, etc) - World Date”. This will also, optionally, allow you to include an image that will be posted as a second message by Stagehand in the scene, and can act as a banner on all scenes.
- End Text - set the default text that will automatically be messaged to the post or thread when someone uses the /scene end command.
- End Image - set the default image that will be messaged when someone uses the /scene end command.
- Remove Image - remove the default image that will be messaged when someone uses the /scene end command.
- View /scene end - displays all of the currently configured defaults for /scene end.
- Close Delay - by default, using /scene end will remove users from the post or thread so it no longer appears in their channel list. This will allow you to set a default timer, in minutes, before the users are removed from their thread. This is helpful if you want to give folks a day or so to see the end of their scene before it vanishes. Remember! Each day is 1440 minutes!
- Lock on close - toggle whether or not the thread will become locked after a user runs the /scene end command.
- End tags (add/remove) - set any forum tags to be applied or removed by default when the /scene end tag is run. Please note: tags must defined in at least one forum before you’ll see them in this selection list. The tags will only apply if those tags have been created in that forum. Tip: you can use stagehand’s tag copying tool to quickly copy tags from one forum to another.
- /scene edit role - allow a role other than admins to edit any scene information created through /scene open using the /scene edit command.
- Muse names - toggles the feature that, when using /scene open and Muses are selected, those Muse’s names will be included in the title via the format “Scene Title (Muse 1 x Muse 2 x Muse 3, etc) - World Date”.
- Date step (button) - toggles whether or not, when using the /scene button feature, the scene creation wizard will ask for a world date
